There are two major types of coffee in Vietnam: Arabica and Robusta
Robusta Coffee:
Growing height of Robusta coffee ranges from 0 - 800m, so it is relatively easy to grow. But it requires a fairly large rainfall of 2200-3000mm, so Robusta coffee is very drought tolerant. In Vietnam, nearly 90% of the cultivated area is Robusta coffee and Vietnam is the largest Robusta exporter in the world.

Robusta coffee is grown mainly in the Central Highlands, mainly in the Central Highlands provinces of Kon Tum, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Dak Nong and Lam Dong. Some midland provinces like Dong Nai and Vung Tau also grow robusta coffee. Robusta here is planted at an altitude of about 500m above sea level. Robusta prefer sunlight with preferred temperatures from 24 degrees C to 29 degrees Celsius, characteristic plateau with an average rainfall of more than 1,000mm per year.
Arabica coffee:

Arabica coffee is usually grown at a height of around 1000 to 1600m. Of the more than 500,000 hectares of coffee planted in the country, only 35,000 hectares are dedicated to Arabica coffee and thse are concentrated in Lam Dong, Thua Thien Hue. Quang Tri, Nghe An, Hoa Binh, Son La and Dien Bien.
