The overall aim of the VietFarm model is to assimilate Vietnamese producers from subsistence or just above subsistence level farming to being able to make money and reinvest it back into their livelihoods and surrounding locality. It will try to achieve this in many different ways but essentially it strives to help these producers achieve an International standard of food quality in production and processing through the various means of the supply chain to the end product. VietFarm also employs a fairtrade model so the base level producers will receive a much fairer rate of pay for the products they are selling.
In this aspect, it is much similar to World Fair Trade and many other International standards, but, it is much more. VietFarm focuses on a ‘Trade not Aid’ outlook which will help the rural areas of Vietnam gain credit for their agricultural produce Internationally. At current levels, Vietnam exports huge levels of raw materials, i.e. Tea, Coffee, Cashew nuts etc, but most of these exports are exported at an unprocessed level e.g. Green coffee beans, unrefined tea etc.

Other International food standard systems rely on their traceability as a key part in consumer marketing and branding. Vietfarm is no different and will consist of confound traceability tools on packaging.
